Hyperlapse Test

Posted on August 28, 2014 by Jim

John Gruber:

“But while Microsoft was publishing research, Instagram was building an app that will soon be in the hands of hundreds of thousands of people.”

Instagram’s new Hyperlapse app is free, and easy as heck to use:

“We designed Hyperlapse to be as simple as possible. You don’t need an account to create a hyperlapse. Instead, you open up straight to the camera. Tap once to begin recording and tap again to stop. Choose a playback speed that you like between 1x-12x and tap the green check mark to save it to your camera roll. You can share your video on Instagram easily from there.”

The only things I might like to see would be a usage meter to let the user know how much has been recorded, and the ability to import previously recorded video, rather than just living entirely in the app’s ecosystem – a change that the popular video app Vine introduced this week. My first attempt at recording a journey today was eventually lost as I ran out of space on my iPhone – but to be fair, expecting to record 40 mins+ of video on a 16GB model would be setting unrealistic expectations.

Really looking forward to the possibilities this little app can bring.
